Biography of Casper Parham Pollard

Casper Parham Pollard was the third child born to John W and Barbara Pollard and was born 27 March 1826 in Greenville, South Carolina. He was brought as a child to Cherokee, Alabama. Casper Parham was possibly named after his grandfather's brother, Parham Pollard. Casper met Mahala in Alabama and they married sometime before 1848 in Cherokee County. Their first child Luallen, was born in 1848 in Cherokee, Alabama. Casper was a farmer and records show he purchased a land patent of 41.67 acres in Pickins County, Document 36763 in the Land Office, Bureau of Land Management, Tuscaloosa, Al. The family moved on from Cherokee Co. with the rest of the Pollard family and is found on the 1860 census living in Pickens, Alabama. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Casper and his wife have seven children, and his wife was pregnant. He moved to Panola County, Mississippi and did not join the Alabama Confederate Unit with his four brothers, two brother in laws, and father. Casper later joined Company A 3rd. MS INF State Troops. His eighth child, Wiley Pollard, would be born in Panola County, Mississippi in 1862. He married (2) M. E. McCown 11 Jan 1890 in Panola County, MS. He died in Panola County, Mississippi after his 2nd marriage in 1890, burial currently unknown.
