It appears that these two tracts were either patented to this John McCune, or possibly John McCune, son of Samuel McCune, probable brother of this John McCune. Without date information, it is impossible to determine which John McCune these two tracts belong to. Additional research is needed).

- Page 144.--Patent to Henry Dooling, 30th January, 1741, and by him conveyed to Christian Clemons (now deceased), now invested in Jasper Clemons as heir-at-law. Patented to Christian Clemons, 16th March, 1771. Teste: Jno. McCune.
- Vol. 1 - JUNE 18, 1746. - (48) James and John McCune, on testimony of John Risk and James Lockhart, committed for having spoken treasonable words. (Note: it appears from this record that James McCune, son of Francis McCune MAY be a probable brother of this John McCune).
- Vol. 1 - JULY 16, 1746. - (70) James and John McCune brought before the Court for speaking treasonable words--evidence heard--both took the oaths and gave bond for good behavior.
- Page 136.--William King, farmer, of Mariyan, to John Trimble, farmer, 251 acres in Beverley Manor; corner John Trimble, Beverley Manor line; corner Moses Offiriel. Teste: John McKeu, Hugh Young, Wm. McFeeters. (Note: William King and Moses Offriel owned land nearby John McCune).
Possible Relatives in Augusta County, VA
Based upon records in Augusta County, it appears that John McCune is probably a sibling of James McCune (listed with John in records above and also of Samuel McCune, who owned land in Beverley Manor adjoining the land labeled "John McCune" in the J.R. Hildebrand Map, shown above.
There also could be a relationship with Thomas McCune of Salisbury Township, Lancaster County, PA, who was involved in the following suit in Augusta County with two of John McCune's neighbors, Samuel Gay and Robert Turk, who owned land just to the northeast of John and Samuel McCune:

From "Papers read before the Lancaster County Historical Society, Volume 25", by Lancaster County Historical Society:
Samuel Gay and Robert Turk, probably resided in Lancaster, Pa., on December 4, 1744. They gave their bond to James McCune, of Salisbury Township in that county. The obligors of this bond removed to Augusta County, Va., prior to 1750. and members of the McCune family also came to Augusta. The bond also appears in the papers. (C. P. No. 1.)
Information on John McCune
There are few records of this John McCune in Augusta County. He may be the same John McCune that died in 1766 in Hopewell Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He apparently does not show up on any of the processioning lists in Beverley Manor, so it is difficult to determine if this is the same John McCune that acquired two tracts shown on the Beverley Manor Map, and if these tracts were sold to others (again no records of the acquisition or disposition of these tracts can be located). Additional research is needed on John McCune and his family.

- In the name of God Amen-the thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty-six I John McCune of Hopewell Township in the County of Cumberland in the Province of Pennsylvania Farmer being very sick and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory Thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die Do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the direction of my executors hereafter named nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and a touching such worldly estate wherewith it had pleased God to bless me I give and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Impremis

:Item I give and bequeath unto my Dearly beloved son James McCune that part of my plantation he is now possessed of and the one half of that third of my plantation which I now Possess to be by him and his heirs after one year after my decease Enjoyed forever and one dollar and one pot one fourth of the Pewter and the fourth part of the hogs.
:Item I give and bequeath unto my Dearly and well beloved wife Agnes McCune one Brown mare called Boney with a Patch in her face her bed and bed cloaths two cows and one pot all the Vessels about the shelf and the one half of all my grain for her maintenance.
