Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Page 84.--20th August, 1765. John McCreery, Sr., to John McCreery, Jr., £120, 260 acres on Cowpasture, part of tract whereon John, Sr., now lives, great spring, corner George Lewis. Teste: Thomas Feemster, Robert Knox, Wm. Black. Delivered: John McCreery, 2d December, 1786.
Disposition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Page 400.--20th February, 1787. John McCreery and Martha to John Boreland. Delivered to Wm. Robertson (Captain), 2d February, 1795. Patented to John McCreary (Sr. or Jr.), 12th July, 1770.
Two Marriages of John McCreary
Evidence points to two marriages for John McCreary, Jr. of the Cowpasture; first, to Susannah Estill, daughter of Wallace Estill and Marca Boude, in 1762 (marriage bond listed in records below), and second to Martha Feamster, daughter of Thomas Feamster, sometime around 19 March 1771, when John received another marriage bond in Augusta County, and confirmed by the land record above in 1787, listing "John McCreery and Martha" to John Boreland, listed above. John McCreary's second marriage to Martha Feamster is also confirmed in "McCreery vs. McCreery", listed in Chalkley's as coming from Bath County records in 1798, listed in the records below.

- AUGUST 15, 1780. - (265a) James and Joseph Bell qualified Captains. John McCreery qualified Lieutenant Colonel of Militia.
- APRIL 26, 1782. - (375) Thomas Tate and Andrew Anderson are appointed Commissioners of the Specific Tax--1st Battalion. John McCreery, same, in 2d Battalion.
- Vol. 2 - Feemster vs. Feemster--O. S. 64; N. S. 22--From Bath. Bill filed 8th May, 1798, by John and William Feemster against Elizabeth Feemster, relict of Thomas Feemster, deceased; John McCreery and Martha, his wife; Robert Sitlington and Mary, his wife; Adam Bratton and Elizabeth; Rachel Carlisle, alias Feemster, Susannah Feemster; Sarah Brown, daughter of Sarah Feemster, who married Hugh Brown, deceased; which Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Rachel and Susanna are daughters and heirs of Thomas. Orators are also sons. Thomas made a will, but it was lost.
- Vol. 2 - James Stewart's Declaration, January 12th, 1833: Born in Augusta County (now Bath) January 7, 1757; was drafted in 1778 or 1779 and served at Clover Lick Fort under Capt. Andrew Lockridge; in 1779, or 1780, was drafted and served at Warwick's Fort under Capt. Thomas Hicklin; in 1781 was drafted under Capt. Thomas Hicklin, Lieut. Joseph Gwinn, Ensign Thomas Wright, Col. Sampson Mathews, Col. William Bowyer; in June, 1781, was drafted and served under Capt. Peter Hull and Col. John McCreary; in 1781 he served as substitute for James Carlile. (Note: it is likely that this is the Col. John McCreary referred to in this record).
