• Vol. 2 - Marriage Bond in Augusta County - 1798--January 18, Reuben Tankersley and John Hughes, surety. Reuben Tankersley and Cynthia Hughes, daughter of above John Hughes.

• Vol. 2 - John Hughes's Declaration, September 3d, 1832: Age 82 in February next; enlisted in Bladensburg, in the County of Barton Lucas, under Capt. Ewing. (Note: the John Hughes that made this declaration would have been born abt. 1750).
