John Tomlin Horsfall b. 1821, son of Jeremiah Horsfall of Addingham, and Anne, dau. John Tomlin, Esq., Clitheroe.

  16. According to his family in England, John Tomlin Horsfall went to America about 1855, sailing for Halifax, Canada, and was never heard of again. (Letter, Maurine Creagh, Australia, to Robert Bruce Horsfall III, 14 Nov. 1987?)
Because John Tomlin Horsfall had no contact with his family in England, he was probably presumed dead, which would explain why probate was entered prior to his death.
Without a will, the original probate record would most likely contain no more information than is shown in the Calendar. (See: Christensen, Dr. Penelope, Researching English Probate Records. Heritage Productions, Toronto, Ontario, 2001)
