Horsfall, Emil. Landscape painter, active intermittently in Cincinnati (Hamilton) during late 1880s and the 1890s. Brother of Robert Bruce Horsfall, he was born in Clinton, Iowa, where he first studied art. Apparently he and his brother left Iowa together to attend the Cincinnati Art Academy in 1882. Emil later studied in Munich and Paris, probably during 1891 and 1892, when his brother was there on a scholarship. In 1895 both exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, giving their address as Clinton, Iowa. The following year they were back in Cincinnati where they shared a studio at 126 East Fourth Street in 1897. Little else is known about Emil except that in 1948 he was living in Red Bank, New Jersey.
