Facts and Events
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Fletcher_Moulton,_Baron_Moulton John Fletcher Moulton, the third brother, was born in 1845 in Madeley, Shropshire, and named after the famous John Fletcher who was vicar of Madeley and a close associate of John Wesley. He had a brilliant Cambridge career. He was 'Senior Wrangler' (top of the Mathematical Tripos), with more marks above the second man than the second man had above the bottom man. Then he turned to the Law and finished as a Lord Justice of Appeal. He was also a brilliant scientist, and was Director-General of Explosives Services during the first World War. Before he was made a Lord, he was also a Member of Parliament and a barrister with a large practice. He was married twice, with one son Hugh and one daughter Sylvia, whom you know. I had my tonsils operation in his house in Onslow Square in 1916. He died in 1921. You should read Lord Birkenhead's opinion of him in the preface to the biography written by his son, Hugh.
