  • Vol. 2 - CIRCUIT COURT JUDGMENTS -APRIL, 1793 (H to Y). - Edward Hall vs. John Coulter--Trespass. Writ, 14th October, 1790. Verdict for plaintiff, 1 penny. John McClure deposes, August 28, 1791, aged about 74 years. Surveys. Deeds in this cause were withdrawn and filed in suit of Beverley vs. Steel.
  • Vol. 1 - NOVEMBER 19, 1796. - (88-91) A fight took place in Court between John Coulter and Alex. Gibson, Esquires--bound to peace.
  • Page 60.--3d May, 1800.--Henry Hawk to sons John and Abraham Hawk--Bill of sale to personal property. Teste: John Coalter, Jacob Swallow.
  • Page 295.--3d October, 1802. John Edmondson's will--To wife, Lucy, the carriage and pair of horses, and 3 children, house servants; son, John, to be educated in the Upper Country under direction of friend John Coalter; to brother, James, owns property in Staunton; to niece, Sally Cooke; to sister, Elizabeth; brothers, William, Benjamin, George. Executors, wife Lucy, brother James, John Coalter. Teste: George G. Mclntosh, Jno. Monroe, Edward B. Smith. Proved, 26th April, 1803, by Mclntosh, and 25th July, 1803, by John Monroe. James Edmondson qualifies.

Coalter. Executors, sons John and Abraham. Proved 26th March, 1804. Executors qualify.

Sampson Mathew's will, Sr., of Bath County--Has executed deed to John Coalter as trustee for wife Catherine. and another to Samuel Clarke as trustee for self, both recorded in General Court. Suit in Federal Court in Chancery to set aside those deeds. To four children, viz: John and Sampson Mathews, Ann Nelson, Jane Clarke. Executors, Samuel Clarke, Jacob Kinney. Teste: Andrew Barry, W. Herron. 7th April, 1800, Codicil--Makes daughter Jane residuary legatee. Proved, 24th March, 1807.
