Byrd, John - entered service 1776 in Virginia; granted Pension abt. age 60 in Bourbon County, Kentucky, 1819; to Fayette County, Indiana, before 1823; died abt. 1830 leaving wife Elinor age 57 & 1 child at home; married 3/1780 who resided in Indiana in 1870; daughter married in Indiana; query letter in file states soldier's son Robert, born 5/22/1776 in Virginia, who married 1/22/1799 Rachel Allen, Barren County, Kentucky, & died in Oregon on 10/13/1855. R444.

    John Bird was born about 1759 in Virginia according to DAR records.[1] (before 1766 according to the 1810 and a820 census.[2][3])

    He married Elinor.[1] Last name uncertain, listed as Frey or Hawkins in various online family trees but no direct source identified.

    The family moved to Kentucky, where son John M Bird was born.

    John Bird is listed on the 1791 tax list for Bourbon, Kentucky.[4]

    In the 1810 US census, John Bird was living in Stoner, Bourbon, Kentucky. His household included one male under 10, two males 16-25, one male 45 and over (himself, so born before 1766), one female under 10, one female 16-25, and one female 26-44.[2]

    In the 1820 US census, John Bird was living in Millersburg, Bourbon, Kentucky. His household included one male 16-18, one male 45 and over (himself, so born before 1776), one female 16-25 and one female 45 and over.[3]

    The family subsequently moved to Indiana. John died in 1829 in Fayette County, Indiana, United States
