Elinor (or Eleanor) was the wife of John Byrd (or Bird) of Virginia.[1]
Her birth name and parents are not known. She is listed in some online family trees as born as Catharine Frey. It is also suggested that she was Eleanor Hawkins, as it is noted that the Hawkins family lived near the Byrd family in both Virginia and Kentucky.
She probably married John about 1776, based on birth of son John in 1777, although record for this is not identified. The marriage is also listed as 1780-1782 in various online family trees, but unsourced.
In the 1810 US census, John Bird was living in Stoner, Bourbon, Kentucky. His household included one male under 10, two males 16-25, one male 45 and over (John, so born before 1766), one female under 10, one female 16-25, and one female 26-44.[2] His wife, presumably Eleanor, would therefore have been born 1766-1784.
In the 1820 US census, John Bird was living in Millersburg, Bourbon, Kentucky. His household included one male 16-18, one male 45 and over (John, so born before 1776), one female 16-25 and one female 45 and over.[3] His wife, presumably Eleanor, would therefore have been born before 1776.
The family subsequently moved to Indiana. John died in 1829 in Fayette County, Indiana, United States.[1] It is not known when Eleanor died. (It may be listed as 1816-1830 in online family trees, but no source is identified for this date.)
