Wood, 67, of 436 County Route 50, died Monday at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. Mrs. Wood was a custodian at Sandy Creek Central School, retiring in 1993. Born Nov. 22, 1938, in the Town of Orwell, daughter of James and Ruth Roser Monteith, she attended Orwell and Sandy Creek schools. She married William H. Wood on May 1, 1965, in Vorea Community Church. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Vorea Community Church. She was a lifelong resident of Orwell. A sister, Alice Babcock, and two brothers, John and George Monteith, died before her. Surviving besides her husband are a stepdaughter and her husband, JoAnn and John Bifera, Fulton; a niece whom she raised, Margaret Bariga, Webster; two sisters and their husbands, Gertrude and Irv Smith, Maple View, and Beverly and Clark Newton, Taberg; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert Monteith, Parish, Roy and Sally Monteith, Redfield, and Edward and Debbie Monteith, Redfield, two grandchildren... The funeral will be... Friday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Jerry Hewell, pastor of Vorea Community Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
