Tuesday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Jerry Hewell, pastor of Vorea Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Wood died Friday at his home, where he was under the care of his family and Oswego County Hospice. He was a spooler at Camden Wire Mill, retiring in 1995, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vorea Community Church. Born Sept. 3, 1933, at Sandy Creek, son of Thomas and Laura Christman Wood, he attended school in Sandy Creek and Mexico and served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Janice I. Monteith on May 1, 1965, at Vorea Community Church. She died March 6, 2006. A previous marriage ended in divorce. Surviving are a daughter and her husband, JoAnn and John Bifera, Fulton; a niece whom he and his wife raised, Margaret Bariga, Webster; a sister and her husband, Helen and Irving Crossett, Altmar; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Lester and Katherine, Sandy Creek, Gordon, West Monroe, Raymond and Betty, Liverpool, and Carl and Jean, Parish; two half brothers, two half sisters, two grandchildren... Two sisters, Mildred Sciortino and Daisy Buskey, and two brothers, Louis and Milford, died before him. References
