  • Page 259.--16th May, 1762. Daniel ( ) Johnson and Mary ( ) to James Johnson, £23, 320 acres on head of Fort Run.
[Note: Daniel Johnson appears to be likely related to James, additional research is necessary].

Disposition of Land from Chalkley's:

  • Page 234.--24th October, 1768. James Johnson and Susanna to Charles Long, £130, 330 acres on head of Fort Run, patented to Daniel Johnson, 16th August, 1756, and by him conveyed to James. Teste: Abraham Bird, Jacob Miller, Rudy Mauck. Delivered: Jno. Bear by order, 19th December, 1774.

James Johnston is mentioned by his brother-in-law, Conrad Humble (1736-1791) of Bourbon County, Kentucky, as follows:

I do also give a bequeath to my daughter Rachel two hundred and fifty acres of land adjoining Richd CUSTER on Clear Creek County & District aforesaid, I do also empower my brother Michael HUMBLE my true attorney to make a Deed of conveyance for eight hundred and twenty-five acres of land lying about fourteen miles below the mouth of the Kentucky river on the banks of the ohio to James JOHNSTON my brother-in-law for an in my name the entry being for twelve hundred an twenty five acres between said JOHNSTON and myself the above mentioned part falling to his share, I also give and bequeath all the remainder of my lands to the above Legatees Viz Noah Uriah & Rachel HUMBLE my wife Hannah, John FITZWATER and Richard CUSTER each of them being an equal share of expenses of clearing it out of the office & each Legatee receiving an equal share thereof.

    Searching for any information on Susannah & James Johnston/Johnson who are believed to have settled in Bourbon Co. from Westmoreland Co., PA sometime after 1779. Susannah was born in Westmoreland Co. abt. 1736. Her orphaned niece, Elinor, may have resided with them.
