also Jacques (in father's will?)

Mentioned in wills of brothers John (1773) and Peter (1785).

Rev. Robert Bolton, History of the County of Westchester, vo l 1 (New York: Chas. F. Roper, 1881) p.690: "James Fflanders (Flandreau), a native of France, in 1664, appea rs as a resident of this town (New Rochelle) in 1710, together w ith Catherine, his wife, and their children, James Jr., Peter, a nd Betty."

Probably this is the James who witnessed the following will, bu t there were others at the time who might have done: New York City Wills, 1760-1766, Page 132. In the name of God, Amen, July 7, 1761. I, STEPHEN RENO, of Ne w Rochelle, in Westchester County, being sick. I leave to my dau ghters, Magdalen Rynlander, Judea Bertine, and Jane Coutant, 1/ 2 of my movable estate, and ß22 to each, "to be paid out of my r eal estate by their brethren," I leave to my sons, Stephen, Pete r, and John (whom I make executors), all the rest of my estate , real and personal, they paying to my sisters as above. Witness es, John Bryan, James Flandreau, Sovering Bolt. Proved, Octobe r 6, 1761.

The 1790 census for New York, page 201, lists two James Flandrea us, father and son. The father's household had 2 white males 1 6 or older, 2 white males under 16, and 5 white females. The so n's household had one white male (over 16, presumably James Jr . himself), three white males under 16, and two white females . The older James' record might belong to this James, but it pr obably belongs to his son.
