Facts and Events
[flandrx-seeker.ged] Mentioned in wills of brothers John and Peter. Probably included as head of household in 1790 census, or perhaps that is his son. A note in the Hill Collection estimates his birth around 1720, where I had previous put him around 1714. Served as constable and assessor in 1760. From the New Rochelle Town Records (spelling as preserved in the published version) TOWN MEETING - 1760 The first tusDay april 1760 the free holder and the Inhabitant o f New Rochell have met toGether as the Law Doth Direck and the r and then to chuse the officier for this present year viz for towne clerk Isaac Guion and for constable Elias flandraux an d allso Collector for supervisor Justice Blaiker and for assesso r Peter flandraux and peter Bonnet and for pound master Danel Si card for Fensese vieur John Shut and Danel Sicard and prisor of Domage and dor oversier of high ways John Barrit & benjamin Bo und for ye uper quarter James pine and John parcot and tis agrea d allso the ye og shall not Rune without Ring and yok. The 1790 census for New York, page 201, lists an Elias Flandrea u as a head of household in New Rochelle. There were in the hou se, 3 white males of 16 or older, 4 white females, and one "othe r person" (a free black, perhaps, or a native american). Father's will implies that he might actually be born last of the sons and not in the middle. The 1763 list of freeholders in New Rochelle lists Peter Flander o, Elias Flandero, and Benjamin Flandero as blacksmiths. References
