Dinner was served with two birthday cakes. Mr. Durgee is well and active and assists his son Edmond in operating the farm. During the afternoon many friends called. He received many gifts. Guests were present from Clinton, Utica, Rome, and Camden. [edit] ====================================================================Utica Daily Press, 2 Oct. 1937: JAMES H. DURGEE Camden-- James H. Durgee, 73, one of the oldest residents of Hillsboro, died in his home yesterday morning. He suffered a stroke about a year ago and until that time had been very active. He was born in Amboy, a son of the late James H. and Rebekah Doty Durgee. His marriage to Miss Barbara Snyder, Camden, took place here Mar. 21, 1894. They purchased the Hillsboro farm which had been their home since. Mr. Durgee was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church. He leaves Mrs. Durgee; eight children: Miss Christine Durgee, Oneonta; Mrs. Clarence Raut, Vienna; Mrs. M. Earl Eastham, Camden; Mrs. Alexander Crumb, Clinton; John S. Durgee and Miss Jane Durgee, Utica; J. Edmund Durgee, at home, and Mrs. Earl Willis, Bernhard's Bay; a sister, Mrs. Charles Ford, Parish. Funeral will be held at his home at 3 p.m. Sunday and at the Hillsboro Church at 3:30. The Rev. F. F. Meyer, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Camden, will officiate. Burial will be in the new Camden Cemetery. References
