REBECCA DURGEE... At 9:30 o'clock Wednesday evening, Oct. 16 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.C. Ford of Parish, occurred the death of another highly esteemed resident-- Mrs. Rebecca Durgee, widow of the late James Durgee of Amboy. A couple of years ago she suffered a slight shock and since then her health has been gradually failing until the end came. Rebecca Doty was her maiden name, a daughter of the late Amos and Emily Doty of Amboy. It was here that Mrs. Durgee was born 84 years ago. Several years preceding her marriage were spent in teaching school in Amboy and its vicinity... In 1860 she was married to James Durgee of Amboy... Their early life was spent at the Durgee homestead in North Hillsboro. It was here that their 8 children were born, 6 of whom survive... Her... life was spent in the vicinity of Amboy... until about five years ago when she moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.C. Ford... The funeral was held Friday afternoon... at the Baptist Church of Hillsboro...
