Camden, Oct. 21-- The lifeless body of Mrs. Margaret R. Durgee Eastham, 42, wife of M. Earl Eastham, was found floating in Fish Creek near the Van Ry greenhouse shortly before 8 o'clock this morning, the discovery being made by her husband and his brother, John. The body was clothed only in a night dress. The absence of Mrs. Eastham from her home, 5 Washington ST, was discovered by her husband about 7:30 this morning. He called his brother and together they instituted a search which ended at the creek. Coroner Thomas A. Cox, Rome, was summoned. Margaret R. Durgee was born May 3, 1897, at Hillsboro, a daughter of Mrs. Barbara Snyder Durgee and the late James H. Durgee. She was a graduate of Camden High School and for a few years taught school at Hillsboro and at Highmarket. On August 21, 1917, she was married to M. Earl Eastham. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Camden Chapter, O.E.S., the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Parent-Teacher Association. Surviving are her husband; two children, Donald Eastham, a student at Crane Institute Potsdam, and Barbara at home; her mother of Hillsboro; seven brothers and sisters, Miss Christine R. Durgee, Oneonta; Miss Jane Durgee, Utica; Mrs. Alexander Crumb, Clinton; Mrs. Clarence Raut, Vienna; Mrs. Earl Willis, Panther Lake; John Durgee, Utica; and Edmund Durgee, Hillsboro. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Utica Daily Press, 22 Oct 1939: MRS. MILTON E. EASTHAM Camden-- Private funeral services for Mrs. Margaret R. Eastham, who drowned Saturday in Fish Creek, will be at 2:30 this afternoon at the J. Floyd Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas J. Williams, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of James H. and Barbara Snyder Durgee. She was graduated by Camden High School in 1916. She married Milton E. Eastham of Camden Aug. 21, 1917. She taught school for a short time in Carterville and Highmarket. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, OES, American Legion Auxiliary and Parent-Teacher Association. Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Mrs. Barbara Durgee, Hillsboro; two children, Donald, student at the Crane Institute of Music at Potsdam; Barbara, Camden high student; five sisters, Miss Christine R. Durgee, Oneonta; Miss Jane Durgee, Utica; Mrs. Alexander Crumb, Clinton; Mrs. Clarence Raut, Vienna; and Mrs. Earl Willis, Panther Lake; and two brothers, John, Utica and Edmund, Hillsboro. Oswego Palladium-Times, 26 Oct 1939: MRS. M. EARL EASTHAM Camden, Oct. 26-- A large number of friends and neighbors paid last tribute to Mrs. Margaret R. Durgee Eastham, wife of M. Earl Eastham, Saturday and Sunday. Funeral services were held privately Monday at the J. Floyd Smith funeral home in Camden. Relatives attending the services were Miss Christine Durgee, Oneonta; Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Crum, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. John Durgee, Miss Jane Durgee, Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. William Snyder, Utica; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Willis, Bernhards Bay; Mrs. Wayne Turner, Parish; Spencer Durgee, Syracuse; Theodore Durgee, Baldwinsville; Mrs. Ralph Mezzalingua, Manlius; Mrs. Dewill Potts, D.D.
