After studying over my info on the James Campbell, son of Gilbert...she concluded that what I had was pretty clear. Then she gave me the data for the other James Campbell as the following: "In the article, "Campbell Saga" written by Catherine S. McConnell in 1992, bearing a Lilbrary of Congress catalog card #72-90924, bottom of pate 4, "The eight children of James Campbell and Lettice Taylor are found in the records of the Superior Court of Law and Chancery, 1816, Wythe Co., VA: Elizabeth m George Spotts; Nancy m George Light; Polly (Mary?)m William C. Morrison; James A.; John; Ruben; William S.; Isabella m Co. Stephen Sanders of Criple Creek p. 49" She further stated that while the 14 May 1776 Will of said James Campbell was proved by John Paxton, one of the witnesses of the Will, at the Court House of Botetourt Co., VA., execurors Isaac Taylor and Lettice Campbell who "entered into bond with securities according to law", she was not able to find a copy of the will. Her conclusion was "While these children's names are indeed the correct ones, and bears checking out with the records at the said Superior Court in Wythe Co. Va, then the James Campbell and Lettice are not the parents of Patrick Campbell and his named siblings. (Which is my Patrick Campbell who married Ann Ware) Anyway I was going on the above information and pretty much accepted it as is....suppose mostly because it did divide the two James Campbell's enough for me to at least place that line in a whole separate Campbell bunch. Ruby did send a bit more documentation of that James Campbell with this: "James Campbell received a patent of land on 12 Feb 1752 on Goose Creek. On 19 Aug 1760, he and his wife Lettice sold 400 acres of this land on the waters of Roanoke to Alexander Boyd for 400lbs (Chalkley, v.3 p 363) On 28 Nov 1764, said Alexander Boyd sold this property along with additional acreage to Alexander Blain. (Chalkley, v3 p. 425) On 9 March James and his wife Lettice again sold land, this time 64 acres on the North Branch of James River to one James Bennet for 29lbs."
