Early Land Acquisition in Frederick County, VA

Acquisition of Land in Virginia:

• Jacob Harnsbarger received a patent for 229 acres "on a branch of the South Fork (of the Potomac River) called Richardson's Run on west side of Dyche's land" on 10th July 1767, (as listed in the disposition below):

Acquisition of Land from Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants 1742-1775, Volume 2:

• M-35: Jacob Huntsbarger of Frederick County, 214 acres near Potomack River on Elk Branch in said County. Surv. Mr. Thomas Rutherford. Adj. George Henry Peachtolt. 2 Sept. 1762. [Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants, 1742-1775, Vol. 2, pg. 144].

Disposition of Land from Chalkley's:

• Page 64.--18th November, 1767. Jacob Hornberrier and Elizabeth M. to Jacob Friend, £17, on a branch of the South Fork called Richardson's Run on west side of Dyche's land, 229 acres patented to Jacob Hornberrier, 10th July, 1767.

• Page 474.--28th September, 1765. William Frazier's estate sold at vendue--to, viz: Hance Magot, Wm. Hook, Wm. Patterson, John Ferrell, Jacob Herrberrger, Michael Coker. Settlement of above estate, by James Frazier--4 gallons liquor at the funeral, 6-1/2 gallons for vendue.

• Vol. 2 - Jacob Hornberger vs. Peter Hornberger--O. S. 38; N. S. 13--Bill 3d August, 1804--Jacob and his wife, of Montgomery, being aged and infirm, on 2d February, 1796, conveyed land to son Peter Hornberger, on condition he should maintain them. Deed, 2d February, 1796, Jacob Hornberger and Elizabeth, his wife, of Montgomery, to their son Peter. Proved in Montgomery County, February, 1796.
