    Service - Virginia VA. NO. 23920 No. S-19237
    Born, Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia, 1755. Enlisted, Greenbrier County, spring of 1778, and served fifteen months under Captains Armstron, Arbuckle, and William Hamilton, under Colonels Hamilton and Stewart, guarding border settlements and forts. Applied for pension in Nicholas county, December 10, 1833. Certificate issued, 1835, dropped in 1835, but later restored for six-months service. Suporting claims made by Elverton Walker, George Rader, Michael Rader and Jonathan Wilson.

    On the motion of Jacob Chapman who made both and together with Abraham _______ Andrew Niel Samuel Niel & Anthony Rader his security entered into and acknowledge a bond in the ________ (penally, finally, penalty) of Three Hundred Dollars conditioned as the law directs________ (Artificals) is granted the said Jacob Chapman for obtaining letters of administration on the Estate of Jacob Chapman ________ (deceased, ??) in due form.

Jacob Dotson Jacob Copenhaven William Miller James Walkup & Lewis Jone or any three of them being first duly sworn before a Justice of the peace do truly & Justify appraise in current money the personal Estate of Jacob Chapman ___ (?) and return their appraisement to the court.
