Donaghe, infant; daughter, Elisabeth Campbell, wife to Robert Campbell; to son, John; grandson, Hugh Donaghe, son to son James, deceased, and sisters of said grandson Hugh; to children, Sarah and James. Executors, Archibald Stuart and son, Jno. Donaghe. 26th February, 1807. Codicil--Wife Anne is dead, their children were three, viz: William W., Sarah, and James.   • Page 69.--17th April, 1788. James Culbertson's will--(Sets out transactions with Maj. Robt. Burns and Isabella Burns in 1782 and since showing indebtedness to him); also that out of his 4,000 acres to which he is entitled as Captain in the Virginia Line, he has sold 1,000 acres to Hugh Donaho, lying near Mouth of Miami; also Thomas Johnston, of Louisa, is to have 800 acres; Richard Bruce, of Albemarle, owes him £4 balance for a watch, &c., after deducting £3.0.0 allowed him to pay his brother, George Bruce. His accounts for services as Commissary and Quarter Master and Forage Master to Polaski's Legion (vouchers in hands of Capt. Geo. Rice (Brice) have not been paid. Also for services as issuing Commissary for the Prisoners stationed at Staunton of Burgoyne's Army (also in hands of Capt. Geo. Brice) also unsettled. Capt. Wm. Long owes £60 for money lent and other transactions in 1776. Robert Draffors (ons), of Charlottesville; Geo. Divers, of Albemarle: Wm. Holliday, of Winchester; Col. Thomas Rell and Mrs. Brice's claim for washing which she has charged to Robert Gamble to be paid. Then all debts to be paid (after deducting his reasonable wages as storekeeper for Gamble; John North). John Parris to be allowed 500 acres military lands for making clothes. Estate to be divided between brothers and sisters, viz: Robert Culbertson, Molly, Anne, and Margaret.   • Vol. 2 - Kayser vs. Mathews--O. S. 307; N. S. 109--Bill, 28th March, 1811, by Joseph Kayser and Letitia, his wife, who was widow of Archer Mathews who died 13th August, 1786. Archer owned lot No. 5 in Staunton which he conveyed to Sampson and George Mathews, but she has never released dower. Sampson Mathews is dead, leaving children, viz: Sampson; Nancy, wife of Alexr. Nelson; Jane, wife of Samuel Clarke. Hugh Donaghe, left children, John, James, William W., Sarah. Jacob Peck deposes, 1821, he came to Staunton in 1771, August. On that part of lot 5 now occupied by Dr. Waddell, there were no improvements in 1771. The stables that lately stood thereon were built in fall of 1772. The rental after 1786 was about $5 per annum. In 1773-4 Thomas Smith offered to sell the lot on which Mr. Wayt's stone house and the adjoining white house now stands for £10 and could not get it. He afterwards made a present of it to a young lady. Jacob Swoope deposes, he came to Staunton in 1790. Letitia Keyser died before 16th March, 1815.
  • Vol. 2 - Watson vs. Donaghe--O. S. 273; N. S. 96--Bill, 14th July, 1814. Orator Samuel Watson is only son and heir of John Watson, who died in Augusta in 1775. John was in possession (under contract to convey) of a tract owned by Hugh Donaghe. John's widow was Mary. Orator at father's death was 5 or 6 years old. Mary moved with all her children to Washington County, then returned to Augusta and then removed to Tennessee. Orator has since resided in Tennessee and Kentucky. Answer by Margaret Donaghe, widow of James, son of Hugh. She first came to Augusta in 1787. Answer by Hugh C. Donaghe, 21st June, 1815, is 22 years old. Henry Painter deposes, in Augusta, 6th April, 1816, about 35 or 36 years ago he settled on a tract belonging to James Searight near the tract in dispute, where he lived 19 years and became acquainted with Mary Watson.
  • Vol. 2 - William Miller vs. Rochester--O. S. 283; N. S. 100--Samuel Rochester removed from Virginia, but was entitled in right of his wife, daughter of _____ Campbell and granddaughter of Hugh Donaghe, to a legacy of £50 under Hugh's will.
