    Hugh Crawford was born February 18, 1762, in Pennsylvania. During the American Revolutionary War, Hugh enlisted in Captain Laird's company, under the command of Colonel Ross. Hugh is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolutionary War as DAR Ancestor # A027588. DAR records indicate that he died on January 17, 1832, in Sullivan county, Tennessee, and that his wife's name was Hannah Gamble. Applications for membership i the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their daughters, Elizabeth Crawford, who married Samuel L. Stephens; and Leanor Crawford, who married John Reuben, Jr.
