[edit] obituary 1Howard Nelson Folk, 90, of Ridgedale Nursing Home, died at Fort AM today in Memorial hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a retired farmer. Born on January 2, 1894, in North Liberty, he lived in the North Liberty area most of his life. On October 6, 1921, he married Beulah Mangus, who died in September 1940. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Davis of Lakeville; three sons, Glenn A. of South Bend, Carl N. of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Robert E. Folk of Granger; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Michael of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mrs. Sylvia Wilmer of Indianapolis; and a brother, John Folk of Williamsport, Indiana. Services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday at North Liberty United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gaylord Saltzgaber, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel, and from 10 AM until the 11 AM Saturday at the church. A Masonic memorial service is scheduled at 7:30 PM Friday in the funeral home. He served with the Navy during World War I, and was a member of the Menominee Barracks 841 Veterans of World War I, American Legion Post 365 of North Liberty, Liberty lounge 266 F. & AM and Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend; and he was a 50 year member of the church.
