Retired O'Dea Hardware salesman many years ( also earlier there when it was called Iowa Paint & Hardware). I doubt that there was a city contractor who did not trust upon his guidance on hardware items. Herschel lost a leg in late life, died of heart failure after working at a Kiwanis pancake activity in Des Moines. Silver Beaver in BSA (Scoutmaster of Troop 19 and long time Commissioner of Tall Corn Council BSA ). Active Kiwanian (1954 pres.). There were many Bruner and Stoner family members at this funeral, as well as many Braught family and friends (oral report of Ralph Braught summer 1983 at Terre Haute, IN ). Married at Asbury Meth. Church. Like his father, uncle Herschel usually had a pipe in his mouth. 1925 Des Moines, IA Directory shows Herschel F. Braught working at O'Dea Hardware as slsmn, living at 1522 Dean Av. 1932 Des Moines Directory shows Herschel F. Braught (Mary E.) dept. mngr of O'Dea Hrdw & Paint living at 2349 E. 13th
