Helen HAMILTON married 1827, as his 2nd wife, her cousin, John George HAMILTON. John’s 1st wife was Christiana MONTEITH, daughter of Provost Henry Monteith of Carstairs ("Provosts of Glasgow from 1609 to 1832"). In 1881 Helen Hamilton (b 1803 Glasgow, head), her stepson, son, daughter in law and 6 servants were at Laggary House, Row, Dunbartonshire (census). Scottish archives have the wills of John George Hamilton, merchant in Glasgow, afterwards residing at Laggarie, Row, Dumb., d. 22dec1866 at Laggarie, reg. 1868 (eik 1896) Dumbarton, and Helen Hamilton, Laggary, Row, widow of John George Hamilton, merchant, Glasgow, d. 23mar1886 at Laggary (scotlandspeople).
