William HAMILTON was born 16jun1790 (Latter Day Saints) and died 8mar1866 (R. Kelly, worldconnect). William married 25apr1826, at Gt. Yarmouth, Mary Orton LUCAS (d. 1875 aged 72), eldest daughter of Rev. Gibson Lucas, rector of Filbey, Norfolk; they had 1 son and 5 daughters. William succeeded to Northpark and became provost in 1826; he and his wife were buried in the Necropolis ("Provosts of Glasgow from 1609 to 1832"). Scottish archives have the wills of William Hamilton, Glasgow merchant, res. Northpark, spouse of Mary Orlow Lucas Hamilton, reg. 1866 Glasgow, and Mary Gorton Hamilton alias Lucas, widow of William Hamilton, Glasgow merchant, she died at Viewpark Villa, Row, Dunb., reg. 28apr1875 Dumbarton (scotlandspeople). Mary Orton Hamilton nee Lucas (b. abt 1803) died 1875 (scotlandspeople). Glasgow PO Directory 1831 lists Wm. Hamilton, at Robert Bogle and Co. (connected to William’s mother’s family), house 151 Moore Pl., and in 1841 at Northpark.
