Gordon Mcconnell Gordon McConnell, 91, died Aug. 7 at the Ladysmith NursingHome in Ladysmith. He was born on Nov. 26, 1898, in Hannah, N. D., the son ofWilliam James McConnell and Ellen Bruce Waddell McConnell. He and Valeria M.Heyman, daughter of K. W. and Kate Heyman, were married on Nov. 21, 1925. Gordon was principal of schools in Pekin, N. D., and in Sawyer and Rusk counties inWisconsin. Four years before his retirement in 1965, he was county superintendent of schools in Rusk, Sawyer and Bayfield counties. From 1937 to 1949 he was owner and publisher of the Bruce News Letter. He is survived by his wife, Valeria; two daughter, Lois M. Miranda of Oshkosh, Carol Marian Jaeger of Jacksonville, Fla; two sons, Donald Bruce McConnell of Madison and Dr. Robert G. McConnell of Milwaukee, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jean E. Martin of Madison and his brother, Karl O. McConnell of Superior, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were atthe Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, with FatherDavid Oberts officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the cemetery at Bruce. |
