Jean Elizabeth Martin Jean Elizabeth Martin, 85, formerly of Ladysmith, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Nazareth House Nursing Home in Stoughton. She was born on Feb. 14, 1914, at Redwing, Minn., the daughter of William J. [A.] andEllen B. Waddell McConnell. Her husband, Arthur Martin, preceded her in death. Jean graduated from [the Hayward WI high school and] the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., in 1937. She practiced nursing at the Mayo Clinic in rochester and the Rusk County Memorial Hospital. She was an office nurse forDr. Smith and Dr. Bennett in Ladysmith and then at the Ladysmith Nursing Home. Jean was a very caring person and she exemplified that philosophy throughouther outstanding nursing career. She loved her children and family and always placed them first. She was a good friend and will be missed by family and friends. [Member of Hope Lutheran Church Ladysmith] Survivors include twin sons, Richard Bruce Sargent of Madison and James David Sargent of LadyLake Fla.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one brother, Karl McConnell of Superior. [sisters-in-law Mrs. Robert McConnell and Mrs.Gordon McConnell] In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was prededed in death by an infant daughter, four brothers, Robert, Gordon, Glenn, and Fred, and two sisters, Clara and Iva. [and an infant brother] Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey Pedersen officiating and burial was at Riverside Cemetery.
