George Wilson emigrated to Lanark County with his parents and siblings around 1815. Data provided on Ancestry family trees and on the family gravestone at Scotch Line Cemetery indicates that his father died in 1827 and his mother in 1850.
George and his brother John jointly farmed a lot in North Burgess Township, almost immediately south of the land farmed by their brothers in Bathurst Township. It would appear that John and George married two sisters, Mary Taylor Forgie and Ann Forgie, respectively. Ann Forgie died before the 1851-2 census, so little information about her is known. The two couples used many of the same names for their children and it can be difficult to identify the parentage of some of them in later years.

There is no date of baptism on this page of the parish register. It would appear that both boys were baptised at the same time, at some date following 25 July 1809.

Examinations of the Canada West censuses of 1851 and 1861 often throw up "split" families where some members appear at the bottom of a page and the rest of the family appears at the top of another page not following on from the first. In this case, George Wilson appears at the bottom of page 10, while his children appear at the top of page 3 (the page which also includes his brother John and family).
