Will of George Keller
- WILL OF GEORGE KELLER
- Shenandoah County, Virginia
- "In the Name of God, Amen I George Keller of the County of Shenandoah, state of Virginia being sick in body but of sound mind and memory and knowing the Certainty of death and the uncertainty when it may happen Do think proper to make this last will and Testament which I do in the following manner Viz:
- First I do will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my personal estate
- Secondly I direct and it is my absolute will that my beloved wife Catherine Keller shall have the full possession of all my land and plantation whereon I now live lying and being in the acres in County on Tom's Brook during her natural life of which she shall have the use profit and income, she maintaining and clothing my minor children and educating them in every way in a decent manner. I further give to my said wife all my and her wearing apparel of every kind Linen cloth yarn, hemp, (illegible), and wool that may be on hand at the time of my death also her bed bedstead and all the furniture belonging to the same, and cow of her own choice my loom (?) and utensils, her saddle and bridle all of which articles she shall have without being appraised.
- Thirdly I will and direct that my two sons Samuel Keller and Jacob Keller each of them shall have one colt out of my stock of horses
- Fourthly My daughter Susanna having not received anything of me as yet and those of my daughters that are married have received a bed and a cow I therefore give her also one bed and a cow equal with the others
- Fifthly I will and bequeath that all my personal estate not herein otherwise bequeathed or disposed of shall be appraised and sold by my executor herein after named as soon as conveniently may be after my death and the net proceeds arising from such sale I give to my said wife and to my children herein named the one there part thereof to my wife and the other two thirds to my children to be equally divided among them share and share alike
- Sixthly I will and direct that my Coexecutors herein after named shall as soon as conveniently may be after the death of my widow sell by way of public sale to the highest bidder all my land and real estate on such conditions and pay (illegible) as may to them appear to be to the best advantage to my heir. And the money arising from such sale after the necessary expenses and costs are paid shall be equally divided among my children herein named shall and share alike. And I do hereby empower my executors herein after named to make good conveyances to the purchaser or purchasers thereof by virtue of this my last will and testament.
- My children among them my property to be divided as herein directed are as follows. My daughter Elizabeth wife of Cornelius Dysert, my son John Keller, my daughter Sarah wife of John Kern, my daughter Rebeccah wife of Gabriel Stickley, my daughter Mary wife of David Crabill, mydaughter Catharine wife of Abraham Crabill, my son Samuel Keller, my daughter Susannah Keller, my son Jacob Keller, my daughter Rachel Keller, my daughter Hannah Keller, and my daughter Barbara Keller to each of them I give their respective share for themselves and their heirs.
- Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son John Keller and my son in law Abraham Crabill executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and disclaiming all and every other will and will by me made, declaring this and this only to be my last will and testament. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of March AD one thousand eight hundred and nineteen.

- At a superior Court presented May 22, 1820, John Keller and Abraham Crabill entered into bond either JACOB HUDDLE {HOTTEL}, Emanuel Wendel and Jacob Funk in the penal sum of twelve thousand dollars.

Frederick Hanger's will--To wife, Eve; to sons, Charles and Peter; to son-in-law, Augustine Argenbright, 1/2 acre where his smith shop stands; daughter, Eve, wife of Daniel Joseph. Executors, Augustine Argenbright, Peter Ingleman. Teste: John Young, George Kellar, Christian Baylor. Proved, 22d July, 1799, by all witnesses. Argenbright qualifies.
- Vol. 2 - Augustine Argenbright's Declaration, October 23, 1832: Age seventy-seven; born in Shenandoah County, and removed when quite young to Augusta; in 1778 he volunteered under Capt. Alexander Robertson on the expedition against the Shawnee Indians, who were making incursions on the Northwestern Frontier; proceeded from Staunton to Tygert's Valley, which was then with the intermediate country almost a wilderness. In 1781 he volunteered and marched with many others from Augusta to repel the invasion of the British under Cornwallis, who was then advancing into the interior of North Carolina; shortly before the battle of Guilford he received a furlough to enable him to visit a sick brother attached to another corps of the army, who had been left on the road on account of sickness; before his return to camp the battle of Guilford was fought, shortly after which the troops were discharged; Captain Smith, of Staunton, was commandant of his company; Col. Moffett commanded the Regiment; General Campbell commanded the Brigade; Alexander Williams and George Kellar were with him on this expedition. During the war a contractor arrived in Staunton with an immense number of horses, and declarant was employed four months (during which time he labored much on Sunday, such was the urgency of the times) shoeing horses, being a blacksmith.

KELLER, GEORGE
Service - Virginia. Va. No. 12571 No. S. 5649
Born, Stovers Town, Shenandoah County, April 19, 1758. Enlisted at Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia, July 1779, and served nearly two years as a Private under Captains Christee, Thompson, Rankin, in commands of Colonel Mathews and Morgan. Took part in engagements at Cowpens, Jamestown, Portsmouth, and Yorktown. Pension Certificate was issued to him in Monongalia County, Virginia, May 10, 1833, which was reduced in 1836. Supporting data filed in his behalf by Henry Whiteman, Francis Billingslea, and William Haymond. He also mentions Captains Evans, Triplett, Tait and Colonels Howard, Williams, Lee and Dudley.
