Early Land Acquisition in Virginia
Land Grant Surveys in Virginia:
- 24 December 1777: George Easterly was awarded title [by an arbitration panel that met between 8 November 1776 and ended 24 December 1777] to 400 acres of land in Dunmore County, VA, that a warrant was issued to Jacob Dagger who assigned it to Neil O'Neil, who had it surveyed on 30 December 1754. This land appears to have been originally owned by George's father, Conrad Easterly. Casper Branner, then George Easterly's step-father made the declaration that “I lay no claim to this land.” [Source: EasterlyFamilyPages.net, screen captures from 2004]

Will Transcript
- In the name of God Amen I George Easterly of the County of Greene & State of Tennessee being of sound mind and memory Calling to mind the certainty of death & the uncertainty of Life and Divers other causes hereunto to me moving do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament, Viz.
- Imprimis, to my son Conrad Easterly I give my Large German Bible having heretofore given him a full share with my other sons
- Item To my son Jacob Easterly, I give Ten shillings Sterling having already given him a share with my other sons
- Item To my son Philip Easterly I give my Farming utensils of every description with my waggon & gear having heretofore received his share in my other property
- Item To my son George Easterly I give my Book in the german Language titled the truth of christianity he having also received a full share with his other Brothers.
- Item To my son Casper Easterly I give Ten shillings sterling having heretoford received his share with my other sons
- Item To my son John Easterly I give Ten shillings Sterling he haring heretofore received his full share with my other sons
- Item to my son Moses Easterly I give Ten Shillings Sterling having already received an Eaquel part with my other sons.
- To my Daughter Cathrine Curton I give one hundred pounds currency of this State Including the twenty one pounds that she has already received to be paid out of the Bonds or moneys which I may Leave at my death in the following manner to wit: twenty five pounds when my Daughter Magdalene shall arive at the age of twenty two & then every four years till the whole shall be paid.
- To my Daughter Marget Easterly I give one hundred pounds currency of this State to be paid out of the Bonds or monies that I may have at my death in the following manner twenty five pounds to be paid when Sd. Marget shall arive to the age of twenty one & then every four years the like sum till the whole is paid
- Item to my Daughter Mary Easterly I give one hundred pounds currency of this State to be paid out of the Bonds or money Which I may have at my Death in teh manner of ___ing twenty five pounds When ___ arrive at the age of twenty one & the like sum every four years following till the whole is paid
- Item To my Daughter Magdalene I give the Sum of one hundred pounds currency of this State to be paid out of the Bonds or monies which I may have at my Death in the manner following twenty five pounds when she arrives at the age of twenty one and the like sum every four years till the whole shall be paid.
- Lastly I appoint my two sons Philip Easterly & John Easterly as my Lawful Executors to this my Last Will & Testament given under my hand this fifteenth Day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven.
