Lease and release; for £13 current money. 411 acres in Beverley Manner... on the south side of Cathee's River by the lower end of a small island in Robt. Patterson's line... crossing the river... May 22, 1740, George Anderson came into court, and saith, that he imported himself, Elizabeth, his wife, William, Margaret, John and Francis Anderson from Ireland, to Philadelphia, and from thence into this Colony, at his own charges, and that this is ye first time of his proving his rights, in order to obtain land which is ordered to be certified.

George Anderson's will, Sr.—To wife; to grandson, George, infant, son to testator's deceased son and heir-at-law, William, 100 acres where William lived, adjoining Paterson's Island; to sons, George and James, executors; to grandson, George Anderson, son to testator's deceased son, John, infant; to son William's daughters, sisters of grandson George, supra; to son-in-law, Gilbert Christian; to son-in-law, Adam Guthery; to son-in-law, James Andiddle; to son-in-law, Wm. Anderson; to daughter, Jane. Teste: Robert Kenney, James Magonel, Andrew Anderson. Codicil, 9th June, 1788. The 100 acres devised to grandson George is now devided between him and his mother Margaret, and at her marriage or death, then her 50 acres to testator's grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, Robert, Jane, and Nancy Anderson. Teste: James Anderson, Wm. Anderson, Wm. Brooks. Proved, 21st April, 1789, by Kenny and Anderson, and on 22d April, 1789, executors qualify.

George Anderson, Sr. was born circa 1720 in County Ulster, Ireland and by 1740 was in Augusta County, VA when his second child was born. In his will, dated 12 June 1784, he names as one of his heirs his son-in-law, Adam GUTHERY.
The 1810 Cumberland County, KY census shows Adam's son George and family. He appears again in the 1820 Cumberland census, but by 1830 he and his family are found in Fayette County, IL. George's daughter, Mary Ann, husband David SIDWELL, and family moved to Fayette County, IL circa 1830-1832. It was there in 1835 their daughter Margret was born. By 1850 David, Mary Ann, and family were located in Fabius Township, Davis County, IA. In February 1858 Margret married Conrad Moots THARP in Davis County, IA. Their daughter Mary Lucinda married Benjamin Baker ELDER in Davis County in 1880 and their daughter Florence Belle married John Clayton MORRISON in 1902 Davis County. John and Florence's son Floyd Wayne married Glenna Hazel ROBERTSON in Wapello County, IA in 1927.

I am looking for more information about the ancestors of the followign people: Elizabeth CRAWFORD (m. George ANDERSON), who died abt. 1788 in Middle River, Augusta Co, VA. George ANDERSON (m. Elizabeth CRAWFORD), who was born abt. 1710 and died in 1788. He must have lived in Augusta Co. at some point (I don't know if he was born there) because at least one of his children was born there. Margaret Jean ANDERSON (Anderson was her married name; I don't know her maiden name), who was born abt. 1695 in Scotland and who died Feb, 1764, in Augusta Co. Margaret Jean was George's mother. Martha ANDERSON, (m. Henry DOOLEY in Orange Co, VA, in 1735), who was born in either 1715 or 1720 in Augusta Co, VA, and died in 1788 in Bedford Co, VA.
