!Felipe's commom-law wife was Julia Colon. They had four children. Felipe died at 41 years of age. Julia then married, or entered into another common-law relationship, with Felipe's brother, Federico. Federico and Julia were eventually married on 12 August, 1906.

!"History of Coamo", Vol. I, Page # 294, by Ramon Rivera Bermudez, states that Felipe was one of the school teachers in the early school system of Coamo.

Father Gabriel Rodriguez officiated in the burial service. The record shows Felipe was single and died at 41 years of age. Parents are shown as Marcos Bernier and Carmen Girau(d).
