Fanny Edwards was baptised on 30th June 1833 at North Mundham in Sussex, daughter of Fanny Edwards, formerly Johnson, and her husband James Edwards, an agricultural labourer. Fanny was the seventh of their nine children. Her baptism notes that the family lived in the hamlet of Runcton. The 1841 census finds Fanny living with her parents and siblings living at Marsh Farm in North Mundham.
By 1851 Fanny had left home and gone into domestic service in the nearby city of Chichester, working as a housemaid at a drapery on East Street. Fanny's cousin Harriet Green was working as cook in the same house.
Some time between 1851 and 1861 Fanny moved to Midhurst, where she found employment as a housemaid at Heathfield Lodge, home of Thomas Arnoll Davis, magistrate and deputy lieutenant of Sussex and his wife Jane. Fanny stayed working as housemaid at Heathfield Lodge for at least twenty years, also appearing there in the 1871 and 1881 censuses.
Fanny has yet to be traced after 1881.
