Facts and Events
Elizabeth Watts was baptised on 5th October 1723 at Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, daughter of John Watts. Exactly twenty years after her baptism she was married to a labourer named Amor Hickinbottom, who was from the nearby town of Dunstable and about a year older than her. Elizabeth and Amor had ten children baptised at Leighton Buzzard between 1744 and 1764, although one (Mary) died as a baby. Amor died in 1784, aged 61. The burial record describes him as poor. Elizabeth outlived him by nearly 17 years and died aged 77, being buried on 11th August 1801 at Leighton Buzzard where she had spent her whole life. Her burial record describes her as being from the "harlhouse" although it is not clear what this refers to - possibly some sort of almshouse or workhouse. References
