In August 1804, "Constable [James, agent for the proprietor in the area] visited the house of Christopher Edmunds, on the north side of the creek, where he found a fine farm and the best corn produced in the town. Edmunds came into the region in 1798, with his brother Eliphalet, the latter settling in Adams."[3]

    He served as a substitute for his father James, as a musician in short-term engagements during the summers, and later from Rhode Island in 1782. Granted a pension in 1832.

    Sec. 69. ELIPHALET EDMUNDS ( Sec. 28 ), who was born April 18, 1764, in Providence, Rhode Island, went to Vermont with his father in 1775. He moved to Franklin County, New York, about 1794; to Lewis County, New York, about 1797; to Jefferson County, New York, about 1800; to the town of Brighton, Monroe County, New York, about 1824. There he died September 11, 1841.
