Facts and Events
Doris Violet Marshall was born in 1896 at Luton in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw hat sewer named Phillis Jane Marshall, formerly Marlow, and her husband Joseph Marshall, a straw hat blocker. The 1901 census finds Doris living with her parents and siblings at 47 Cromwell Road in Luton, next door to her maternal grandparents. Doris's father died in 1910, when Doris was thirteen years old. The 1911 census finds Doris living with her widowed mother at 46 Vernon Road in Luton, and working as a stove polisher at a gas stove foundry. She has yet to be researched after 1911.
