Donn M. Winans, Ex-Woolworth Manager, Dies
Word has been received of the Aug. 16 death of Donn M. Winans, 75 [76], of Marietta, formerly of Warren.
Born Nov. 18, 1896 [1895], in West Mecca, he was the son of Oscar and Cora (Scott) Winans.
While here, he was manager of the Woolworth Store. He had resided in Marietta about 40 years, and was owner and manager of the Winans Hardware Store until retiring three years ago.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of American Legion Post 64, American Union Lodge 1 F & AM and Marietta Lions Club, all of Marietta. He was a past president of the Marietta Board of Education and a trustee of Marietta Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Herget Winans; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Myers of Columbus; two grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. Georgia Wilson of Warren, Mrs. Corda Free and Miss Helen Winans, both of Ashtabula; and a brother, Glen of New Castle, Pa. Three sisters preceded him in death.
Burial was in Lake Memorial Park.
