Margaret was his first cousin and the grandaughter of William and Janet Craig. He was a private in the Revolution War.

DAR Application of Margaret Peale-Wright 11/13/1919: Captain of one of the first companies of regulars organized in Augusta for service in the Revolution. He was Captain of the Militia in 1777 and was also at Point Pleasant as a Lieutenant in 1774. David Laird and his wife were cousins.(Rockingham Supplement p. 307).
