- This indenture made and Entred [Entered] into this fifteenth day of August in the year one thousand seven hundred and Ninety three between John Sevire [Sevier] and Adam Meek Gentlemen Executors of the last will and testament of Isaac Taylor Deceased of the County of Green in the territory of the United States of America South of the river Ohio of the one part and David Kerr of the County of Jefferson in Sd. territory of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Sevire [Sevier] and Adam Meek Executors as Aforesaid for and in Consideratino of two hundred pounds current money to them in hand paid by the said David Kerr the receipt whereof they said John Seviere [Sevier] and Adam Meek are hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold Allined in profft and confirmed by these presents as bargain sell allien? Enters and Confirm unto the Sd. David Kerr one Certain Tract of parcel of land contain[in]g three hundred acres of land situate in Jefferson County territory Aforesaid begining Above the beaver dams on Dumplin Creek a little below a sinking Spring on a white Oak and hic[k]ory running north thirty five degrees west One hundred and forty nine poles to a black Oak then East forty Eight poles to a pine then north sixty poles to a pine thence north sixty poles to a stake, then East one hundred and two poles to a white Oak on the East side of Dumplin Creek thence south two hundred and forty poles to a stake thence a direct line to the begining to have and to hold unto him the said David Kerr his heirs and Assigns forever with the appurtenances thereunto in any wise belonging or appertaining and the said John Sevier [Sevier} and Adam Meek Executors as aforesaid their heirs Executors &c as forever warrant and Defend the said Tract of land with the Appurtenances into the said David Kerr his heirs or assigns forever against all and every lawful Wright [right] title or Claim of any other person or persons whatever subject only to such incumbrances as in the original grant mentioned and that they said John Sevier & Adam Meek Executors As aforesaid have full powers & othority [authority] to convey in Witness and full testimony whereof the said John Sevier and Adam Meek have hereunto sett their hands and affixed their seals the day and date above written Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence of

Notes for DAVID KERR:
David lived on Dumplin Creek, Jefferson County, Tennessee, near the Sevier County, Tennessee, line. He came from Augusta County, Virginia, and before that, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
In 1784, David was in Greene County, Tennessee (Land grant on the north side of Nolichucky), near and at the same time as Robert Kerr.
In 1787, he purchased land in Greene County. In 1800, David appeared on a tax list for Jefferson County, Tennessee, and made a land transfer in Greene County in 1807.

Saw your posting on David Kerr from Augusta County, VA. Thought this might be of interest, maybe a connection? Unless there is another David Kerr from Augusta County, VA? My line includes him. He married Margaret Powell in 1749.
I have some Kerr's in my line that are located in Jefferson County, TN. Theres a David Kerr from August County, VA who moved to NC and married Mrgaret Powell.

David Kerr is being placed as a possible son of Andrew Kerr, based upon some circumstantial evidence from Denalee Kerr (dlkarr@@hotmail.com), more research is necessary to prove this relationship.

I am researching David Kerr who was born abt. 1740, but I do not know where at this time. He married Margaret Powell abt. 1760 in Augusta County, Va. He sold his land holdings there between 1779 to 1782 prior to moving to Jefferson County, TN. He had substantial land holding in both Jefferson and Greene County, TN. He evidently was a man of means. His children known to me at this time are:
- Rebecca Kerr married Samuel Gass
- Elizabeth Kerr married Hezekiah Ashmore
- Jane Kerr
- Andrew Kerr married Catherine Sterling
I am trying to find Davids ancestors and where he came from, etc. I was
wondering if this family shows up in your Kerr database. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
