Facts and Events
There is considerable confusion about the death of Daniel Wing. It appears to cause many websites to add an extra generation of Wings to account for one death in 1659 and another in 1698. Others think the 1659 estate belongs to Daniel's father John, but more recent research shows that John Wing's will was proven in England in 1630 and so he never came to New England when the rest of the family accompanied Rev. Stephen Bachiler/Batchelder there in 1632. The simplest solution that I can find, suggested by The Wing Family Website (see [1]), is that the probate of Daniel's estate in 1659 was an accounting device designed to preserve his property for the benefit of his children, by making it off-limits to the constant fines that he was subjected to, for being a Quaker. In any event, I can find no other reason beyond this 1659 inventory to suspect there were two Daniel Wings. --Jrich 16:52, 4 December 2008 (EST) Source:Mayflower Descendant, 14:230, Daniel Wing's Inventory: On 3 May, 1659, "the following Inventory was pr'esented to the Court and attested to by John Wing and Steven Winge as being a true Inventory of a smale estate Confeirmed to the Children of Daniell Wing; " The real estate was: "a Dwelling house ... ten acrees of upland betwixt three or foure Acrees Improved ... three Acrees of meddow" "The Court hath likewise taken Cecuritite for the estate to be forth Coming; of John winge for the use of the said Children."
