Last Will and Testament of Christopher Rhodes
Botetourt county to wit I Christopher Rhodes am in good health sound mind and memory knowing that it is appointed for all men to die make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say I give to my children that is here after named the sum of twenty dollars each my sons George Rhodes, Christopher Rhodes and Benjamin Rhodes Eave Siler I likewise give and bequeath to my two daughters Ginney Good and Rebecca Rhodes the sum of twenty dollars each this forty dollars is to be paid out of the money that George Good owes my estate if collected if this money should not be collected of said George Good I will those two Daughters one dollar and fifty cents each to be paid out of my Estate.
I will and bequeath to my son Matthias Rhodes the tract of land he lives on as said Matthias Roads had paid for said land with his own money and one hundred dollars to be paid to him out of my Estate.
I will and bequeath to my two daughters Maglin Rhodes and Margaret Rhodes the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars Each to be paid to them out of my Estate.
I will and bequeath to my three sons Michael Rhodes, Peter Rhodes and Samuel Rhodes all the ballance of my Estate together consisting of the tract of land I now live on and all the money due in the name of Jacob Rhodes Dec, who acted for me and likewise for those three above Brothers in his life time who took all the obligations for money loaned in his own name together with my stock all kinds houshold furniture of every description and every article of every description belonging to my Estate and I do here by utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments wills Legacey bequests and Executions by me and in any wise before named wills and bequeathed Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last will and Testament In witness where of I have here unto set my hand and made my mark this 26th of February one thousand Eight hundred and twenty seven

Lexington Intelligencer (Lexington, Va.):
Died- On Friday, Dec. 17, Christopher Rhodes, of Rockbridge County
supposed to be 109 or 110 years old. (p. 3, c. 3)
Publication Saturday, December 25, 1830.
Departed this life on Friday the 17th last. Mr. Christopher Rhodes, of
this county, supposed to be 109 or 110 years old

    Christopher escaped the Indians in abt. 1738, married, and settled in Rockbridge Co VA with his family. A widely known marksman and hunter he supposedly lived to be 115. When Christopher was over 100 he won a Christmas shooting match, sitting in his doorway and steadying his long rifle again the doorface. aka Christain Rhodes b. abt 1730-42 d. aft 1831, of Botetourt Co VA, hunter, Indian fighter, married several times, received a land grant south of James River in 1768. His will dated Feb 26 1827 calls him George Christopher Rhodes, and is the archives in Charleston WV, Will Book E of Botetourt County.
