Nutter, Christopher - born 1/21/1760 in Sussex County, Virginia (Note: other sources have his place of birth as Sussex County, Delaware); moved as infant with parents to Augusta County, Virginia, thence in 1769 to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, thence in 1772 to West Augusta County (area later Monongalia County, & later Harrison County) Virginia; entered service at Nutter's Fort (now Clarksburg) Harrison County, Virginia in Virginia Regiment; received Pension there in 1832 when Richard Hudkins & clergyman Joseph Morris made affidavits in soldier's behalf per County Justice of the Peace Jacob Coplin, & David Davison County Clerk of Court; soldier died 2/21/1845; married there 6/28/1785 Rebecca Moorhead, who was born 5/20/1768; widow received Pension 1845 in Barbour County, Virginia, when William W. Callihan & Robert B. Stewart County Juctices of the Peace, & L.D. Morrall County Clerk of Court; Eli Marsh then Harrrison County, Virginia Clerk of Court; widow granted Bounty Land Warrant #26388 in Barbour County, Virginia, 1855 when James Nutter (no kinship given) & Felix Stewart witnessed her application for Bounty Land Warrant, County Justice of the Peace tne John J. Hall; widow died 10/16/1861; James Nutter (no kinship given) appointed administrator of her estate there in 1865; he still was administrator of her estate there in 1871 when John Callihan & A.J. Anglan made affidavit that they knew soldier & wife; Jobst Glascock then County Court Clerk there, & Thomas Harrison Judge. F-W5434, R1834.
