On 30 May 1832, he is also named undertutor for Peter ROBINET, posthumous son of deceased Peter ROBINET, his son-in-law. On p. 163, dated 13 Sep 1834, he acts as apprasier for another estate.

On 6 Jun 1806 Henry RANSONET sold to Charles THERIO a tract of land located on the east bank of Bayou Teche, measuring 2 x 40 arpents, bounded above by the lands of Hubert LANDRY and below by the lands of Amant BROUSSARD. Vendor acquired the land from Théotis THIBODEAU, Widow Firmin LANDRY, by act passed on 4 Jun 1806, with improvements. Price: $600, paid in cash. Recorded as #23:90.

   On p. 43, land sale dated 4 Jun 1806, Théotise THIBODEAUX sold to Henry RANSONET, her son-in-law, the same land [but on both sides of the Teche at Fausse Pointe], acquired by Widow LANDRY through inheritance from her mother, for $200. Recorded as #23:106.
   On p. 72, Joseph RICHARD sold to Charles THERIOT a tract of land on the west bank of the Teche, measuring 2 x 40 arpents, bounded above by a tract of land which RICHARD sold this day to Alexis BERTRAND, and below by land of the vendor. Richard retained use of the woodland on the opposite side of the Teche. Dated 3 Mar 1808, price $200, numbered #24:155.
   On p. 90, Joseph RICHARD sold to Antoine ARTACHE land bounded by Charles THERIOT, and below by the lands of HIGBY for $400. Dated 2 Apr 1810, #25:14. [On p. 145 this same piece was sold to Widow Joseph MELANCON plus wood rights for $500 on 29 Sep 1813.]
   On p. 105, 19 Jan 1811, Charles THERIOT sold to Charles MELANCON a tract of land situated on the west side of Bayou Teche, measuring 2 x 42 arpents, bounded above by the lands of Alexis BERTRAND and below by the lands of Antoine ARTACHE, together with use of timber on a tract of land 1 x 40 arpents situated on the east bank opposite the land above described. Price: $450, numbered 26:10. [Are these all of the correct Charles THERIOT?]
    On p. 126, 27 Nov 1811, Hubert LANDRY sold to Nicolas LeBlanc a tract of land situated at the Fausse Pointe on the east side of Bayou Teche, measuring 4 x 40 arpents, bounded below by the lands of Charles THERIOT and above by the lands of Edmond CAPDEVIELLE. Price: $1000, record #26:233. [This same land was mortgaged on 14 Apr 1814, in record #28:256.][Same land sold by Donat BREAUX to Edward LeBlanc for $1400 on 29 Jun 1814.     On p. 276, 23 Jun 1817, Charles THERIAUD and Amant BROUSSARD exchanged land. Charles ceded a tract of land on Bayou Teche, 2.5 x 40 arpents, bounded above by Edouard LeBlanc and below by Amant BROUSSARD; in exchange Amant ceded to THERIAUD a tract on the west of Bayou Vermilion, bounded above by the lands of Joseph BROUSSARD. Recorded as #3249 in Attakapas & St. Martin Conveyances.
    On p. 132, on 21 Apr 1812 Charles THERIOT sold to Joseph de BLANC a slave named Nanette (age 11) for $550. Record #27:40.
    On p. 136, on 21 Jun 1812, Sterling C. ROBERTSON and William B. ROBERTSON sold to Charles THERIOT a slave named Jenny (age 11) for $400. Record #27:78.
    On p. 160, on 7 Sep 1814 Charles THERIAULT sold to Francois PRIMO a slave named Nancy (age 24) and her mulatto child Betsy (5) for $900. Record #28:176.

Charles TERRIOT in "Ouest" area of the Attakapas district, owning 5 slaves, "frontage" of 2 [arpents?], and estimated value of 250. Original is in the LSU Archives, reprinted in the Attakapas Gazette, vol. 11, no. 2 (summer 1976). [Is this the correct Charles?] Near him is Joseph TERRIOT, with 1 slave and 3 arpents frontage, with 350 estimated value. Between the two TERRIOTs is Alexis BERTRAND, nearby are Joseph RICHARD, Veuve MELONCON [sic].

On 21 May 1835, Catherine HARTMAN, wife of John MARTIN, sold to Charles TERRIOT (all of St. Mary Parish) a parcel of land on the west side of the River Atchafalaya, with 2 1/2 arpents from by depth of 40, bounded above by James OWENS and below by James McMURTRY, for price of $1200.00 ($500 in cash).

    Second entry for a son named Charles to parents Joseph THERIOT & Magdelaine BOURGEOIS [1st child born 1771, died Mar 1773].

    Estate No. 1 of Jean-Baptiste PEYTAVIN was inventoried on 13 Jul 1805, with 14 slaves appraised at $6755. Animals included 60 head of cattle, 10 yoke of oxen, 12 stallions, 200 head of range cattle, 100 sheep, appraised at $3,710.
    At the sale on 3 May 1808, Charles THERIOT bought 3 mares and their colts for $76.00, plus some cattle.

    Also at the sale of the assets of the company belonging half to the deceased Jean-Antoine GARRIGOU, Charles THERIOT bought 206 lbs. of sugar @ 15c per pound, for a total of $30.90.

    These may be for the other Charles THERIOT, son of Thomas & Agnes DAIGLE. Check.

    On p. 78: "Before the entry of Texas into the Union [1845], probably the largest cattle raisers in the entire United States were on the prairies of Southwest Louisiana.2 The cattle raised on the prairies was the Spanish long horned cattle which came from the West Indies, Florida, and Mexico."
    On p. 80: "...Around Vermillionville, livestock became a very important industry in the 1820's, with over forty brands registered in Lafayette Parish alone in 1827. Some cattlemen branded as many as three thousand calves and a thousand colts a year."

    [Charles was the oldest male, around age 52, his wife age 43. There were seven sons still at home, but Zephirin is apparently listed in age 20-29 column, although he was probably only 16. The only daughter at home was Ceraline, age 4. There were six slaves.]

    According to p. 166 of succession papers, Charles died on 16 Nov 1840 "leaving ten children, by your petitioner [Rosalie LE BLANC], his only legal heirs." Only one of their 11 children had predeceased him. His estate was appraised at $12,551.79, including 5 adult male slaves, 2 adult female slaves, and 5 slave children aged from 18 months to 12 years. The plantation at Dutch Settlement, slaves, animals, etc. were put up for auction on 14 Feb 1843. By the time the estate was settled on 23 May 1845, son Marcilien had died, as well as Terence, a minor he was undertutor for. (Charles) Cerasin had reached his majority, and only Ceraline and Edouard still needed an undertutor, named as Antoine COMO, with mother Rosalie LE BLANC as natural tutrix. Final signature by probate judge was on 14 Jun 1845.
