  • Page 253.--Shannandore, 4th June, 1750. Caleb Job's will--Wife, Barbary; four children, Samuel, Jacob, Nathan, Elizabeth. Executors, wife and Ephraim Leith. Teste: Abraham Job, Moses McKay. Proved, 28th May, 1750, by Job and McKay, and both executors gave bond (no bond recorded).

(Full) WILL OF CALEB JOBE Shenandoah The 4th Day of June 1750


I, Caleb Job, of the county of Augusta, and colony of Virginia being weak of body but of a sound mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of live heron do make and ordain this my present Last Will and Testament in manner and from following:
First and principally commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the merils of death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of my sins to inherit ever-lasting life and my body to commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as to what it has pleased God to be bestowed on me of this world I bequeath and bestow as followeth:
I will and bequeath the plantation I now live on to my wife, Barbary, during her widowhood and after the plantation to be sold and the money equally divided between my four children - Samuel, Jacob, Nathan, and Elizabeth.
My will is that my wife shall have her third as the law directs and that the remainder of my estate shall be equally divided among my children before named and they they shall go to trades by the consent of my Ex. Ephriam Leith which I appoint equal power with my wife. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of:
