SUCCUMBS MONDAY TO LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Stephan was Resident 10 Years
Mrs. Bertha M. Stephan died Monday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Loegering in this village, with whom she made her home for the past 10 years. Death was due to a heart ailment with which she had suffered for the past five years.
Bertha M. Rosenow was born June 6, 1876, in Germany, the daughter of John and Margaret Rosenow. The family moved to the United States in 1881, locating at Cleveland, Ohio. In 1884, she was married in Long Prairie to Paul Stephan who died April 1, 1925.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary of Mount Carmel church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. George Rausch officiating. Interment will be made in the church cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Mrs. Emil Steuck, Sr., crossbearer; John Dinkel, Stephan Hansmeyer, Anton DeMuth, A.F. Bokinskie, Ferd. Nokels, and Otto Wettstein.
Surviving are the following children: Robert, Mrs. August (Ruth) Bruder, Jr.; Mrs. John (Rose) Bruder, Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Loegering of Long Prairie. Nick and Mrs. Albert (Lydia) Petrie of Eagle Bend, Lawrence of Broken Arrow, Okla., Siegfried of Poplar, Mont., 28 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: William, George, Walter, and John Rosenow of Long Prairie, Mrs Lena Kibbe of Staples, Mrs. Alfred Schroeder and Mrs. Clayton Parker of Long Prairie.
