None knew him but to esteem and respect him. He belonged to that sturdy group of pioneers whose labors have done so much for our county and to whom those of the present generation are so deeply indebted. He never sought public recognition, but served his community by being an industrious citizen, a home builder and the father of a fine family of boys and girls, whom he taught by example to be good and constructive citizens also. He lived to a ripe old age and has departed with the record of a good life, well lived.
