PIONEER CITIZEN OF COUNTY DIES John Rosenow, Who Lived to Be 91 Years of Age, Passes Away. Lived on Same Farm 61 Years. Developed It From a Wilderness. John Rosenow, old settler and pioneer resident of Round Prairie, died at St. Gabriel's hosptial, Little Falls, June 27. He was 91 years of age and his last illness, a short one of only 11 days, was due in large part to his advanced years. The funeral was held from Trinity Lutheran church in this village on Sunday, June 30, Rev. E.A. Dicke officiating and Interment was in the cemetery of the church. Pallbearers were six grandsons, George Rosenow, Jr., Harland Rosenow, Albert Parker, Donald Parker, George Schroeder and Alfred Schroeder, Jr. The services were largely attended, attesting the esteem Mr. Rosenow was held by his many friends and neighbors. John Frederick Rosenow was born in Newsteteen, Germany, July 18, 1854. He came to the United States in 1880, locating first in Cleveland, Ohio, and later in Franklin, Wis. In 1885, 61 years ago, he came to Todd county and bought a farm in Round Prairie township where he continued to reside until his death. As the result of his hard work and good management, he made the farm one of the good ones of the community and for many years it has been pointed out as an exceptionally attractive rural home. He was married in 1874 to Augusta Kaske, who died in 1932. He was the father of eight children, six of whom survive. They are, Mrs. Bertha Stephan, Mrs. Martha Schroeder and Mrs. Clayton Parker, all of Long Prairie community; Mrs. Lena Kibbe of Staples; William of Reynolds and Walter of Round Prairie. Two children, Mrs. Anna Grosenick, who lived in Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mrs. Freida Minke, who resided in Round Prairie, have preceded him in death. Also included in the surviving relatives are 43 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. (see notes)
