Services Monday for McGregor's Ben Tayek

MCGREGOR -- Ben J. Tayek, 80, a former member of the town council for 14 years, died Saturday morning. He retired in 1926 from his farm and moved to McGregor. After retirement, he worked for a while on the ferryboat that used to operate out of McGregor.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Florence, a teacher at Garnavillo, 2 sons, Harold of St. Louis and Benjamin Jr. of rural McGregor and 4 brothers.

Services: Monday at 10 am at St. Mary's church. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 pm at the Thornburg funeral home.
